On 9 September 2021, the ANRS, sponsor of the ANRS 12398 INTENSE-TBM trial, granted authorisation for the opening of the first site in Mbarara, Uganda: Mbarara Regional Reference Hospital.

After many months of fruitful and intense preparation of the trial in Uganda, the site opening visit gathered 22 participants on site and members of the coordination team remotely.
